Porter Farms was established in 1886
as the "Alba Hurst" Farm by D.A. Crist, Sr., and the legacy
has now continued for over a century as a family farm. The headquarters
are located 3.25 miles south of Quinter, Kansas, near the original
homestead where the sod was first turned over with a one-horse walking
plow. Now, over 100 years later, our farm operation embodies efficient,
high capacity machinery equipped with Global Positioning technology
for field guidance, yield mapping, and site specific fertilizer application. No-till
cultural practices greatly enhance soil and water conservation. Our
pioneering work
in this area has enabled Porter Farms to increase overall crop
production and yields. We have a five-generation
farm which is owned and operated by Randel Porter, Irwin Porter
and Nathan Porter.
